Gladys V. I. Hansen, 95, of Kearney entered into eternal rest on Dec. 8, 2012 at St. John’s Good Samaritan Center in Kearney.

 

Services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday Dec 15 at Zion Lutheran Church in Kearney. The Reverend DeLoach will officiate. Visitation and lunch for family and friends will be held from 11:00 until service time on Saturday. Burial will follow the services at North Logan Cemetery, 10 miles north of St Paul on Highway 281.

Gladys was born on Mar. 19, 1917 to Henry T. and Gertrude (Pedersen) Sonderup at their home in North Logan Township, Howard County, Nebraska. She was baptized and confirmed at St Peter’s Lutheran Church North Logan Township. She attended and graduated from Wolbach High School in 1935.

 

Her marriage to Ronald E. Hansen took place on Mar. 19, 1939 at St Peter’s Lutheran Church North Logan Township, Howard County, Nebraska.

Gladys and Ronald lived in Nebraska until 1962 when they moved to the Exira, Brayton and Atlantic, Iowa area. Gladys returned to Kearney, Nebraska in 2000.

Survivors include her children; Maynard and Janet Hansen of Grant NE, Sylvia and Alton Schmitt of Kearney, NE, Elwood and Jeannie Hansen of Atlantic, IA, Lorraine and Richard Leach of Kearney, NE, Lloyd Hansen of Lincoln, NE, Elloise Hansen of Sacramento, CA and daughter in-law Margaret Hansen of Brayton, IA; 21 grandchildren; 37 great grandchildren; 30 great-great grandchildren; sisters; Agnetha Pennington of Temple City, CA and Rhoda and Ray Christensen Grand Island, NE; brother in-law, Lavern Hansen of Phoenix, AZ; and many nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.

Gladys was preceded in death by her parents; an infant brother; her husband; son, Ronald Jr.; daughter in-law Mary; grandchildren, Chad and Stephanie; great grandchild, Elizabeth; sister and brother in-law Lois and Rev Carl Hansen; a brother in-law James Pennington; and a sister in-law Carol Hansen.
