Rosetta “Rosie” Rasmussen Scranton

 

September 7, 1938 - March 9, 2016. Rosie was born on the family farm outside of Dannebrog, Howard County Nebraska to Marius and Emma (Sonderup) Rasmussen. Rosie was a twin to Annetta Emma Rasmussen who passed away on September 8, 1938. 

 

Rosie lived most of her life in Nebraska. She was the first female mail carrier for the U. S. Postal Service in Grand Island, Nebraska and retired from the Postal Service.

Rosie was a proud mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She enjoyed traveling, gardening, reading and learning, being artistic in her crafts, cooking helping others, worshipping her faith, and most of all spending time with her family.

Rosie married Robin Galyn Baker in 1957 and they had a daughter Gayla Annette Baker. In 1971 Rosie marred Lyle Keith Scranton and they had two sons, Jason William Scranton and Shane Sterling Scranton.

 

Rosie was preceded in death by her parents, twin sister Annetta, sister Eline Darlene Rasmussen and brother-in-law’s Robert L. Gans and Virgil Herman Stonestreet.

Survived by daughter Gayla Annette Baker, grandson Logan Baker, sons Jason William Scranton and Shane Sterling Scranton, sisters, Elsie Marie Stonestreet, Marilyn Adad Rae and Paul Selden, Loretta Pearl and Theodore VonKampen, former husbands Robin Galyn Baker and Lyle Keith Scranton, several nieces, nephews and cousins.
