Death Takes Mrs. Nels J. Johnson – Mrs. Nels J. Johnson, 63, died at the family home southwest of Wolbach early Sunday morning. She had been in failing health for the last several months. Mrs. Johnson suffered a stroke about a year ago and had been bedfast since then. Funeral services will be held this afternoon at 2 o’clock at the North Logan church, with burial in the North Logan cemetery. Rev. H. P. Andersen of Wolbach and Rev. Theodore Jensen of Auburn, Ia., will officiate. Surviving are her husband and seven children: Mrs. Anna Swanson, Afton, Ia., Emil and Oscar Johnson, Marseilles, Ill., Adolph, Laramie, Wyo., Lt. Margaret C. Johnson, A. N. C. at Walla Walla, Wash., Cpl. John L. Johnson, Los Angeles; and Pvt. Harold E. Johnson, New York.

Funeral services for Nels J. Johnson, 83, a former longtime St. Paul resident who died Saturday morning in an Ottawa, IL, hospital, will be held Wednesday, 1:00 p.m. at the McIntyre-Jacobsen Funeral Home in St. Paul. Pastor Norman L. Freund will conduct the services and burial will be in the North Logan Cemetery near St. Paul.
Born Nov. 17, 1876, in Norway to Engebrit and Gurine Johnson. Mr. Johnson came to St. Paul when he was 16 and farmed in the community until 1945 when he moved to Illinois.
He and Line Hansen were married in St. Paul July 30, 1907. Mrs. Johnson died in July 1943.
He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Alvin Swanson of Afton, IA, and Mrs. Doth Crawford of Forest Park, Il; five sons, Emil of Sheridan, IL, Adolph of Laramie, WY, John of Kewanee, IL, the Rev. Oscar Johnson of Detroit, MI and Harold of Omaha; three sisters, Mrs. Marie Carr of oak Park, IL, Mrs. Minnie Jensen of Minneapolis, and Mrs. Julia Paulsen of Southgate, CA; a brother, George O. Johnson of Elgin, IL; 23 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
